We are deeply honored to receive the Presidential National Award of Technology Innovation for our project Layli, becoming the first-ever team to achieve this milestone.
A week after the hackathon
The award came just days after our team won the Somaliland Tech Expo 2025 University Hackathon, where we represented Amoud University against ten universities from across Somaliland.
About Layli
Layli is an AI platform for schools in the Horn of Africa. Teachers pick a chapter from the textbook their class already uses, and Layli writes the lesson plan, summary, revision notes and homework, then marks what students send back and shows who is struggling. Students get their work through Caalim, our free student app. You can read more on the Layli project page.
